Course Delivery Methods

📖 Face-to-Face Training: Conducted at our training centre or on-site at your workplace. This option includes interactive discussions, practical activities, and assessments conducted in person.

📖 Online Training (Fully Self-Paced): In line with ASQA requirements, all students must demonstrate competency in a real or simulated workplace. Practical assessment may include:
🔹 Simulated activities and structured scenarios with Corrsafe
🔹 Third-party workplace evidence (if applicable)
🔹 Video Evidence Submission – learners can record and upload demonstrations for assessor review
🔹 Practical demonstrations observed directly by an assessor

Competency is only granted once required practical demonstrations are verified. Third-party evidence will be used only to support competency decisions in conjunction with direct assessment evidence.

Assessment Methods

All assessments are conducted following ASQA’s Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence, ensuring fairness, validity, reliability, and flexibility.

Assessment methods include:
📖 Knowledge Assessment: Multiple-choice and short-answer questions to demonstrate understanding of risk management concepts.
📖 Practical Assessment: Online participants will complete structured risk management activities, including case studies, scenario-based tasks, and workplace risk assessments. These assessments align with ASQA’s Rules of Evidence and ensure competency is demonstrated in a real or simulated workplace environment.
📖 Third-Party Evidence (if applicable): Workplace supervisors may provide verification of competency if assessments are conducted on-site.

Assessments include:
✔️ Online theory assessments: Multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
✔️ Workplace-based risk management activities: Case studies, workplace documentation, or simulated workplace scenarios, ensuring compliance with training package requirements.

📖 Workplace Training: Organisations can request on-site training tailored to their specific workplace risks and industry needs. This method ensures assessments are conducted in a relevant workplace setting.

Legislative and Regulatory Framework

This training and assessment is conducted in accordance with the following legislative and regulatory requirements:

📘 Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (QLD)
📘 Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (QLD)
📘 Codes of Practice relevant to the unit of competency and industry practices

⚠️ Note: These legislative references are specific to Queensland. Where learners are employed or seeking employment outside Queensland, equivalent state or territory legislation and codes may apply.

Certificate & Outcome

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for:
🏆 RIIRIS301E – Apply Risk Management Processes
🏆 RIIWHS301E – Conduct Safety and Health Investigations
🏆 RIICOM301E – Communicate Information

These units are nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and meet industry compliance standards. Please click here to view our information page: What is Nationally Recognised Training?

Industry best practice recommends refresher training every five years. This is not a requirement of the training package or the unit of competency. However, Corrsafe encourages periodic retraining to support ongoing workplace safety and compliance with organisational or site-specific requirements.

Failure to complete refresher training may result in site access restrictions and non-compliance with employer or site policies.

Employers must conduct site-specific competency verification (VOC) before assigning high-risk tasks. VOC may be internal or require external validation by an RTO or assessor, depending on site policies and WHS laws. Some industries, such as mining, mandate external VOC for site access. VOC can include refresher training, site inductions, or on-the-job competency checks to meet WHSQ and industry standards.

Career & Job Opportunities

This qualification is required for roles such as:

🏗️ Supervisors and Leading Hands in construction, infrastructure, and mining.
⛏️ Mine Site Supervisors responsible for safety and compliance.
🏭 Operations Managers overseeing risk management processes.
📦 Warehouse and Logistics Supervisors managing workplace safety.
🚧 Civil Construction Team Leaders ensuring site compliance.

This course supports career advancement and is recognised across multiple high-risk industries. Employers must ensure supervisors meet both national competency requirements and site-specific competency standards before being assigned safety-critical roles. While nationally recognised training meets formal competency requirements, employers may also conduct additional VOC assessments, site-specific training, or workplace assessments as part of their duty of care obligations. Site access may be conditional on employer verification of competency (VOC) requirements.
