CPCCLDG3001 – Licence to Perform Dogging

Course Overview

This course aligns with CPCCLDG3001 – Licence to Perform Dogging from the CPC Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package. Participants will develop the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively perform dogging work in accordance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, Australian Standards, and industry best practices.

Dogging work involves:

🔹 The selection and inspection of lifting gear
🔹 Calculating load weights and applying correct sling techniques
🔹 Directing crane operations using whistles, hand signals, and radios to ensure safe and effective lifting practices

A High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) for Dogging (DG class) is legally required to perform dogging duties in Australia. This course is the mandatory pathway to obtain that licence.

Training and assessment are conducted by WHSQ-approved assessors using the National Assessment Instrument (NAI).

Assessment Methods

Assessment is conducted using the WHSQ-mandated National Assessment Instrument (NAI):

Theory Assessment: Multiple-choice and short-answer questions
Practical Demonstration: Hands-on dogging tasks including:

🔹 Selecting and inspecting lifting gear

🔹 Slinging uneven and complex loads

🔹 Directing crane operators via hand/whistle signals

 Equipment Used:

🔹 Mobile slewing crane (≥7t) with licensed operator

🔹 Uneven load (≥2t), steel plates (min 1.5m x 2m x 25mm)
