Course Overview

This course aligns with WHSQHSRNCB01 - Health and Safety Representative Training, as approved by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ). Participants will gain the skills and knowledge required to fulfill the duties of a Health and Safety Representative (HSR) as legislated under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (QLD).

The course provides comprehensive training to ensure HSRs can effectively represent their work group and contribute to improved workplace safety outcomes.
Training and delivery of this course strictly follow WHSQ’s approved HSR training curriculum and is delivered by Corrsafe Enterprises Pty Ltd, a WHSQ-approved provider.

Who Should Enrol?

This course is ideal for individuals who:

✔️ Have been elected as a Health and Safety Representative (HSR).
✔️ Are re-elected HSRs who need to complete refresher training.
✔️ Are supervisors, managers, or workers who want to understand the HSR role and contribute to a safer workplace.

What You’ll Learn

The course covers the following key areas:

✅ Understanding the WHS legislative framework and its application in the workplace.
✅ Roles and responsibilities of Health and Safety Representatives and Health and Safety Committees.
✅ Effective consultation, communication, and representation on WHS matters.
✅ Identifying, assessing, and controlling workplace hazards and risks.
✅ Issuing Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs) and directing unsafe work to cease.
✅ Participating in incident investigations, notifications, and implementing corrective actions.

Prerequisites & Entry Requirements

🔹 Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
🔹 Basic English literacy and numeracy skills required.
🔹 Suitable for newly elected or re-elected HSRs as per WHSQ legislative requirements.
🔹 Valid 100 Points ID (e.g., Drivers Licence, Medicare Card & Bank Card)
Note: Only elected Health and Safety Representatives under the WHS Act are eligible for the full 5-day training. Refresher training is only available to HSRs who have previously completed the full course and have maintained their HSR status.

Course Duration

📆 Full Course: 5 days (compulsory for newly elected HSRs – must be completed within 3 months of election).
📆 Refresher Course: 1 day (required annually for re-elected HSRs, starting 12 months after initial training).

Course Delivery Methods

📖 Face-to-Face Training: Delivered at our Bowen training facility or on-site at your workplace (conditions apply).
📖 Workplace Training: Customised delivery available for group bookings.
📖 Please note: Online delivery is not permitted for WHSQHSRNCB01. All training must be delivered in person, as per WHSQ requirements.

Assessment Methods

Assessment includes:
📖 Theory Assessment: Short-answer and multiple-choice questions.
📖 Practical Application: Scenario-based discussions and activities relevant to the HSR role.

 

Certificate & Outcome

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion for WHSQHSRNCB01 – Health and Safety Representative Training, issued by Corrsafe RTO 40621, approved by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ).

Note: This course is not a nationally recognised unit of competency but is a legislated requirement in Queensland under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.

Funding

This course may be eligible for CSQ (Construction Skills Queensland) funding, which provides subsidies of:

Eligibility criteria:
✔️ You must be employed in the Queensland building and construction industry.
✔️ CSQ funding cannot be applied retrospectively.
✔️ Availability and amounts are subject to CSQ program guidelines.
✔️ Must hold evidence of working in a construction industry. (e.g., White Card, Blue Card, SOA, QBCC Card, Work Card, Invoice, etc)
