Course Overview

This course aligns with TLILIC0024 – Licence to operate a vehicle loading crane (capacity 10 metre tonnes and above) from the Transport and Logistics Training Package. Participants will gain the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a vehicle loading crane, in accordance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, Australian Standards, and industry best practices.

This course is a mandatory requirement for obtaining a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) to operate vehicle loading cranes in Australia.

What You’ll Learn

The course covers the following key areas:
✅ Planning and preparing for vehicle loading crane operations, including risk assessments and lift planning.
✅ Identifying hazards and implementing risk control measures.
✅ Conducting pre-operational checks and routine maintenance.
✅ Setting up, stabilising, and operating the crane safely within load limits.
✅ Using communication systems and signals to coordinate lifts with ground crew.
✅ Monitoring loads, environmental conditions, and equipment performance during operation.
✅ Responding to emergency situations and applying workplace emergency procedures.
✅ Understanding and applying relevant legislation, codes of practice, and manufacturer guidelines.

Prerequisites & Entry Requirements

🔹 Minimum Age: Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
🔹 Language, Literacy & Numeracy (LLN): Basic English and numeracy skills are required to understand safety documentation, complete assessments, and follow verbal instructions. Support is available for students with LLN needs—please contact us prior to enrolment.
🔹 Physical Requirements: A reasonable level of physical fitness is necessary to safely complete practical tasks.
🔹 Identification: Participants must provide 100 points of valid identification (e.g., driver’s licence, Medicare card, bank card).
🔹 USI: A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required to receive certification.
🔹 PPE: Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn, including hi-vis clothing, hard hat, gloves, safety boots, and safety glasses.

Course Duration

📆 Full Course: Typically 4 days (includes theory and practical training, assessment, and logbook hours).

📖 Face-to-Face Training: Conducted at our Corrsafe Training Centre or on-site (conditions apply).
📖 Prelearning: Online pre-course learning followed by face-to-face practical training and assessment.
📖 Workplace Training: Customised delivery available for employers (subject to approval).

Assessment Methods

📖 Theory Assessment: Written and/or online knowledge assessment covering key safety and operational principles.
🛠 Practical Assessment: Hands-on operation of a vehicle loading crane, including pre-operational checks, load movement, and shutdown procedures.
📋 Logbook Verification: Evidence of practical experience under supervision (if applicable).
📖 Workplace-based Assessment: Can be arranged for eligible candidates at approved work sites.

Certificate & Outcome

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for TLILIC0024 – Licence to operate a vehicle loading crane (capacity 10 metre tonnes and above), issued by Corrsafe RTO 40621.

Upon successful assessment, participants will be issued an AS1 Assessment Summary form, which must be submitted to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) as part of the High Risk Work Licence (CV class) application process. Additional WHSQ fees apply.

Funding

This course may be eligible for Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) funding, providing a subsidy of $1159.00 toward course fees.

Eligibility criteria:
✔️ Participants must be currently employed in the Queensland building and construction industry or actively seeking employment in this field.
✔️ Must hold evidence of working in a construction industry. (e.g., White Card, Blue Card, SOA, QBCC Card, Work Card, Invoice, etc)
✔️ CSQ funding cannot be applied retrospectively.
✔️ All funding is subject to CSQ program guidelines and availability.
