Course Overview
The HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course is designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively to cardiac emergencies. This course aligns with HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation from the HLT Health Training Package and complies with the latest Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. Training and assessment are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the HLT Health Training Package and ASQA standards.
Participants will develop the skills and knowledge required to perform CPR safely and effectively in a range of emergency situations, ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, industry standards, and workplace requirements.

What You’ll Learn

✅ Recognising and responding to emergency situations requiring CPR.
✅ Performing CPR on adults, children, and infants following ARC guidelines.
✅ Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) correctly.
✅ Understanding breathing and cardiac emergencies and appropriate responses.
✅ Complying with legal responsibilities, duty of care, and workplace first aid requirements.
Prerequisites & Entry Requirements
🔹 Minimum Age: Participants must be at least 14 years old.
🔹 Literacy & Numeracy: Basic English and numeracy skills are required to follow instructions and complete assessments.
🔹 Physical Requirements: Participants must be physically able to kneel on the floor and perform a minimum of two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin as per ARC guidelines.
🔹 ID Requirements: 100 points of valid photo ID (e.g., driver’s licence, passport, Medicare card, financial institution card).
Course Duration
📆 Full Course: Up to 8 hours (combining theory and practical assessment).
📆 Refresher Course: Typically 4 hours, depending on prior experience and workplace requirements.
Course Delivery Methods
📖 Face-to-Face Training: Conducted at our Corrsafe Training Facility or on-site at your workplace (conditions apply).
📖 Blended Delivery: Theory components can be completed online, but all practical assessments must be conducted in person at an approved training facility.
Certificate & Outcome
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, issued by Corrsafe RTO 40621. This qualification is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Employers and workplaces should ensure their staff undertake annual CPR refresher training as per the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
