Course Overview

The RIIWHS204E - Work Safely at Heights course is designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to work safely at heights in various industries, including construction, mining, maintenance, and other high-risk environments. 

This course aligns with RIIWHS204E - Work Safely at Heights from the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package. Participants will develop the skills and knowledge required to safely work at heights in accordance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, Australian Standards, and industry best practices.

This course is suitable for individuals who:

✔️ Need to refresh their existing qualification in accordance with industry standards and regulations.

The course covers the following key areas:

✅ Identifying work requirements, procedures, and instructions for working at heights.
✅ Assessing and controlling risks associated with working at heights.
✅ Selecting, checking, and correctly using height safety equipment, including fall arrest systems.
✅ Understanding legislative and regulatory requirements for working at heights.
✅ Implementing workplace procedures for safely performing work at heights.
✅ Responding to incidents and emergency procedures.

Prerequisites & Entry Requirements

🔹 Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
🔹 Basic English literacy and numeracy skills required.
🔹 A reasonable level of physical fitness is necessary to complete practical assessments.
🔹 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required (e.g., harness, helmet, gloves, and steel-capped boots).
🔹 100 Points Valid ID (eg. Drivers Licence, Medicare Card & Bank Card)

Course Duration

📆 Full Course: Typically one day (8 hours) including theory and practical components. 
📆 Refresher Course: Approximately 4–6 hours, depending on prior experience.
📆 RPL: Assessment time may vary based on evidence provided.

Course Delivery Methods

📖 Face-to-Face Training: Conducted at our training centre or on-site at your workplace. 
📖 Blended Delivery: Theory components can be completed online; however, all practical assessments must be conducted in person at an approved training facility or workplace to meet competency requirements.
📖 Workplace Training: Customised on-site delivery to meet specific organisational requirements. 
📖 Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Available for those with relevant skills and experience.

Assessment Methods
Assessment includes:

📖 Theory Assessment: Multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
📖 Practical Demonstration: Hands-on application of working at heights procedures.
📖 Workplace-based Assessment: Where applicable, assessments can be conducted on-site.

Certificate & Outcome 

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS204E - Work Safely at Heights, issued by Corrsafe RTO 40621. This qualification is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Industry best practices recommend refresher training every two years, as per the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (QLD) and the Managing the Risk of Falls at Workplaces Code of Practice 2021.

Funding

Eligibility criteria:
✔️ Participants must be currently employed in the construction industry or actively participating in the workforce.
✔️ Must hold evidence of working in a construction industry. (e.g., White Card, Blue Card, SOA, QBCC Card, Work Card, Invoice, etc)
✔️ CSQ funding cannot be applied retrospectively.
✔️ Funding availability is subject to CSQ guidelines and may change.
