Application

The role of the Health and Safety Representative (HSR) is primarily to liaise with other staff to identify health and safety issues and convey these to management. Health & Safety Representatives are elected by fellow staff to represent the views of the staff group.
This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfil their role as a Health and Safety Representative (HSR) in Queensland. Corrsafe is a WorkSafe Queensland approved provider of this course, which is compliant under the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (Qld).
Health & Safety Representatives in Queensland are entitled to attend this WorkSafe Queensland approved five day training course within 28 days of being elected as the Health & Safety Representative. Employers are required to allow the Health & Safety Representative to take paid time off work to attend this training and pay for training costs.
Likewise, Health & Safety Representatives are also entitled to attend on day refresher courses at least every year after the initial five day course has been completed (as per the Work Health and Safety legislation).

Duties of various parties.
Key Work Health & Safety terminology.
The role of WorkSafe Queensland and penalties for non‐compliance.
Requirements and mechanisms for consultation in the workplace on work health and safety issues.
The role, entitlements and protections available for Health & Safety Representatives and Health and Safety Committees (HSCs).
Resolving workplace health and safety issues through negotiation and conflict resolution.
Identifying hazards and ways in which they can be eliminated or minimised.
Incident notification and investigation.
Issuing Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs) and directing unsafe work to cease.

Course Delivery

The training will be delivered by our skilled trainer assessors, who are up to date with the WHS industry and possess in-depth understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry benchmarks.
The course allows for open-book assessments, providing students with access to all essential learning resources, including laws, practice codes, and their own notes.

2. In-person onsite training tailored to your workplace.
3. Flexible scheduling to accommodate your work commitments, such as splitting the training over two weeks, e.g., 2 days in one week and 3 in the next week.

Accreditation

Successful participants will receive a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland Health and Safety Representative Training Certificate. This certificate is issued by Corrsafe (RTO40621) in our capacity as an approved provider of this course on behalf of the Queensland Government, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.
Corrsafe offers both the full HSR course which requires 5 days of training as well as a HSR refresher course which takes 1 day of training. Achievement Recognition

Participants who fulfill all the necessary assessment criteria, settle any outstanding payments, and provide all the requisite supporting documents will receive a WHSQ Certificate of Completion along with a Photographic Identification Card.

Validity & Renewal of Course

This course requires refreshing every 12 months.

Practical and theoretical activities.
Participant notes and a full copy of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
