Course Overview
The RIIHAN203E - Conduct Lifting Operations course is designed to provide participants with the essential skills and knowledge to safely conduct lifting operations in the resources and infrastructure industries. This course aligns with the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package and ensures compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, Australian Standards, and industry best practices.
Participants will gain competency in developing lifting plans, directing load movements, safely connecting loads, and confirming load stability.

Prerequisites & Entry Requirements
🔹 Participants must be at least 16 years of age.🔹 Basic English literacy and numeracy skills are required to read safety signs, complete assessments, and follow workplace instructions.
🔹 100 points of valid photo ID (e.g., driver’s licence, passport, Medicare card, financial institution card). Special conditions apply for secondary school students.
🔹 A reasonable level of physical fitness is necessary to complete practical lifting operations.
🔹 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required (e.g., high-visibility clothing, safety boots, gloves, helmet).
Course Duration
📆 Full Course: One day (6-8 hours), including both theory and practical components.📆 Refresher Course: Approximately 4-6 hours (for workers with prior certification).
Course Delivery Methods
📖 Face-to-Face Training: Conducted at our training centre in Bowen or on-site at your workplace (conditions apply).
📖 Blended Delivery: Theory components can be completed online; however, all practical assessments must be conducted in person at an approved training facility or workplace to meet competency requirements. Competency is only awarded after the practical assessment.
📖 Workplace-Based Assessment: Where applicable, workplace assessments must be conducted in a pre-approved workplace that meets all WHS and ASQA requirements. The site must provide access to compliant lifting equipment, a safe working environment, and be supervised by a qualified trainer/assessor.
Assessment Methods
Assessment includes:
📖 Theory Assessment: Multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
📖 Practical Demonstration: Hands-on application of lifting procedures, including load securing, directing movements, and confirming stability.
📖 Workplace-Based Assessment: Where applicable, assessments can be conducted on-site.
Certificate & Outcome
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for RIIHAN203E - Conduct Lifting Operations, issued by Corrsafe RTO 40621. This qualification is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Industry best practices and Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations recommend periodic refresher training every five years to maintain compliance with workplace safety requirements. Refresher training ensures continued competency in lifting operations in accordance with AS 2550 and AS 1418 safety standards and WHSQ regulatory guidelines.
