RIIHAN201E – Operate A Forklift
Course Overview
This course aligns with RIIHAN201E – Operate a forklift from the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package. Participants will develop the skills and knowledge required to operate a forklift safely to shift, lift, transfer and place loads in accordance with workplace procedures, Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, manufacturer specifications, site requirements, and industry best practice.
This course is designed for workers operating forklifts in site-based environments such as mining, civil construction, extractive industries, drilling, infrastructure, warehousing, logistics, and other operational workplaces. Training includes practical forklift operation, pre-start checks, hazard identification, load handling, communication with others, safe travel, parking, shutdown, and housekeeping activities.
RIIHAN201E includes the safe and effective use of approved forklift attachments where applicable. Participants are required to demonstrate forklift operation in realistic workplace or simulated workplace conditions to ensure they can safely apply the required skills in an operational environment.
This unit relates to High Risk Work, however RIIHAN201E – Operate a forklift does not provide a High Risk Work Licence. Where a forklift licence is required, participants must complete the relevant licensing unit, such as TLILIC0003 – Licence to operate a forklift truck, and meet the requirements of Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) or the relevant State/Territory regulator. Licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements may vary between jurisdictions and industry sectors and should be confirmed before undertaking forklift operations.
